Wonder where the 2.0 came from in Lefty’s 2.0 Towing? Ronald Jr(owner of Lefty’s Towing) is the son of Ronald Sr, who everyone knew as Lefty, who also owned his own business “Lefty’s Of Sherman”. When we had to come up with a name for towing, he wanted to continue his father’s name.
Sadly, we lost Lefty last week. We will miss him tons.
We love you Dad, and Papa, and we will gladly carry your name forever ❤️

SHERMAN- Ronald A. Lutgen Sr., 81, of Sherman, NY, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 26, 2026, following a lengthy illness. He was born on November 8, 1944, in Cassadaga, NY, the son of the late John R. and Mary Brown Lutgen. Ron had attended Cassadaga High School.

We have been working on something exciting! We got a set of tracks!
We get numerous calls every winter for vehicles disabled on seasonal, no-maintenance roads, usually delivery drivers not from our area, that disregard the signs posted. We do have other ways of recovering them, but it takes up more of our time, and the officers time if they are present.
We will also be able to utilize this for snowmobile recoveries as well. Possibilities are endless!

What not to do when driving in a snow storm, on an interstate…… 2 parts…

Part 1: We were on 86, had just finished a winch out in the median, so we were in the passing lane, blocking the lane. We were just starting to move, still in the passing lane that you can clearly see is not great, our amber lights still illuminating. With this line of cars, we were unable to move to the right lane, and this car circled was trying to pass everyone, and got slowed down behind us… so what does he do? He squeezes between cars, passes us to the right (instead of being patient so we could move over) and then…. LAYS ON HIS HORN…. 🙄 🤦🏼‍♀️ Shame on you, do better!

Part 2: AND THEN!!!!……
On our way back, going a good 60mph in the regular lane as it was…. Again, passing lane crappy… here comes a Chevy Bolt (tiny car similar to a Prius) who decides to pass us… and a few miles down the road, we watch as this car becomes distracted, veers off a bit to the right and quickly (bad idea!), tries to correct, making her go all over the road to the left, then the right, then spin a total 180+ and comes to a stop in the middle of the road way perpendicular, blocking both lanes(unless you wanted to ride the burm to go around her). How she didn’t hit any guard rails or flip her car over, we have no idea….
So us being a tow truck with lights, we flip on our amber lights, come to a total stop, so no one coming traffic hits her… and she sits there for a good minute before moving 😳…. And then, waves her arms up in the air like what are we waiting for!! She did take off, and proceeded to drive a good 70+ mph, like she didn’t learn the first time.

Moral of the story: It is not a matter of “what are the road conditions on 86?” It’s the other drivers you have to worry about! And this was all in a span of 15 minutes.

Drive careful, take your time, stay off the roads if you don’t have to be on them, or have no experience in driving in snow. And, just be kind, patient and understanding! ❤️ Thank you for reading it in its entirety if you made it this far!

Crazy change of weather while we were on I86 for a winch out. To the East, totally clear. To the west.. we looked behind us and all you could see was a white wall moving quickly toward us. Then the wind picked up, and it was like pellets to the face.

We do want to remind drivers… please please SLOW DOWN, and MOVE OVER when you see flashing lights. We did have one car almost clip our bed by not moving over all the way, when we were taking an entire lane. We all want to go home. Thank you.

The head of our PTO at our school called yesterday asking for assistance in picking up donations that assist/benefit our school and community. Say no more! They knew we had the resources, and we gladly assisted!

We’d like to wish everyone and their families a Very Happy New Year!

We rang in the New Year working all night. The snow was fierce, roads not plowed, mostly because they couldn’t keep up. Even had another tow truck go in the ditch while trying to reach a disabled vehicle in the road ahead. We can’t leave a brother tow driver behind, so we did the best we could to help. A personal plow truck also got stuck trying to plow a way.

Thank you to the Sheriffs, Troopers, Dispatchers, Plow Drivers and their hard work during that heavy snow and freezing cold temperatures last night, And this morning! We appreciate you!

As we begin our 4th year in business, we are so thankful for our loyal customers, supporters, and new customers.
