86 truck drivers ARRESTED, 766 out-of-service orders, and nearly $1 MILLION in stolen cargo recovered… all during a three-day enforcement operation across FOUR STATES.
And wait until you hear what else authorities reported finding.
Illinois.
Indiana.
Iowa.
Ohio.
Operation Highway Shield targeted commercial trucks, driver qualifications, and suspected CDL fraud.
Authorities reported detaining 51 people identified as being in the country illegally.
Among them were 21 drivers holding non-domiciled CDLs issued by California and New York.
But that's not all.
36 violations for failing English proficiency requirements.
766 drivers and vehicles placed out of service.
86 operators arrested for offenses reportedly including road rage and domestic violence.
And nearly $1 million in stolen cargo recovered.
All in just THREE DAYS.
Now imagine a driver gets arrested while hauling a loaded semi.
What happens to that truck?
Who takes responsibility for the freight?
And who's paying to get everything moving again?
Because here's something worth asking.
Somebody hired those drivers.
Somebody put them behind the wheel.
And somebody was responsible for making sure they were qualified to operate that equipment.
Removing unsafe drivers and trucks from the highway is important.
But should accountability stop with the person holding the steering wheel?
Drivers, after an operation involving 86 arrests and 766 out-of-service orders, should trucking companies face tougher consequences for hiring unqualified drivers, or is the DRIVER ultimately responsible?
