This afternoon, the Transportation Board agreed to move forward with plans to install button-activated, lighted pedestrian crosswalk systems at two locations:

🚶 Madison Avenue between Sonny’s and the Door County Maritime Museum

🚶 Egg Harbor Road between McDonald’s and Ace Hardware

Last year, the Common Council approved setting aside funding in the 2026 budget for these types of pedestrian safety improvements, and residents will begin seeing these systems installed this summer.

These crossings experience significant pedestrian traffic throughout the year, and the added visibility will help improve safety for both pedestrians and drivers. I’m excited to see this investment move forward and believe it will be a great addition to our community’s transportation infrastructure.
