Three years ago we loaded our last barge of coal at Shawneetown, the dock is now dismantled and gone. Also the last barge of coal Peabody Coal loaded on the Ohio or Mississippi rivers. Miss those days.

The first coal mine on the Green River was the Mclean Driftbank in Muhlenberg County in the 1820's. Here we have the last barge of coal being loaded on the Green River. As of now, there are no active coal loadouts on the Green River.
