— Eighteen-year-old Jaquize Green made history recently by becoming the first student in the state of Arkansas to successfully complete a Commercial Driver’s License program (CDL) while still in high school.
The program — a partnership between Forrest City School District and East Arkansas Community College — was spearheaded last semester by Dr. Tiffany Hardrick, superintendent, Forrest City School District; and Dr. Cathie Cline, president, East Arkansas Community College. The program is the first of its kind in the state of Arkansas.
Green, Class of 2022, is the son of Joe and Schona Green.
In addition to participating in the CDL program, he runs track for the Mustangs, plays baseball, and likes to play video games in his spare time.
Two years ago, he was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and has had to receive treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital every two weeks. Still, he found time to show up to class and, ultimately, make history. He says he’s currently looking to work for a company that offers attractive benefits and a competitive 401(k) plan.
We couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Green.
