Today is a good day for Transportation!

We’re excited to welcome Amber McCauley and Steve Miller back to our Transportation Team as full-time drivers! Steve will begin on Route 13 this afternoon, and Amber will begin on Route 18 tomorrow morning.

We’re glad to have them back behind the wheel and excited for the added stability they’ll bring to our team!

And we’re not done yet! We’re still looking for a few more great people to join our team. Interested in becoming a school bus driver? Come join us!

Due to a significant driver shortage, we will have several temporary route changes tomorrow morning. Pickup times should not vary tremendously, but we encourage students to be ready a few minutes early.

We’re looking for full-time and part-time drivers, and no CDL or previous bus-driving experience is required. We provide paid training and help you through the process.

Friday I had a student get off the bus so excited to show me a gift. She had a little tiger key chain and said her bus driver gave every student on the bus one. She was most excited about the charm attached to it that was a paw print in her house color. I would like to nominate Jolene Mills for the Row the Boat award. Jolene took the time to research every child on her bus' house and created a special gift for each one of them. Friday was our house sorting day at TES and the energy this added to those students' day was contagious. Thank you Jolene for building lasting relationships and core memories for your students! You are amazing!!

We’re still looking for a few great people to join the Spencer County Schools Transportation team!

If you’ve ever thought about driving a school bus but weren’t sure if it was for you, come out to our Test Drive a Bus event on Tuesday, September 15 from 5:00–7:00 PM at the Spencer County Bus Garage, 1430 Townhill Road.

We are looking for both full-time and part-time/substitute bus drivers.

There are a lot of great things about driving a school bus — a 180-day work calendar, working on the school schedule, summers and school breaks off, paid training, and benefits for full-time employees. It can be a great fit for retirees, parents, or anyone looking for a schedule that gives you more time at home.

You do not need a CDL or any previous bus driving experience to come out. That’s what we’re here for! Come meet our team, get behind the wheel, and see what driving a school bus is actually like.

Sometimes you just have to try it to know if it’s for you.

Substitute drivers play a huge role in keeping our routes moving and making sure our students get to and from school safely each day. We’re thankful to have Mark joining our team and willing to step in when needed.
