In 1979 Ken bought his first hay truck, and in 1981 purchased a milk route from Bryce Shumway in South Tillamook County. In 1997 Ken and Nonda were married and became business partners along with Blain and Teresa West changing the company name to Zwald West Transport. Ken and Blain had been doing some dairy manure storage pit cleaning with a Camel Jet Vac, and then branched out into cleaning sewer

lines for some local municipalities. We also purchased our first long haul truck, Unit #5 "Rolling Stone" in 1999, taking cheese to Arizona, Nevada, and California. In 2000 Blain and Teresa left to pursue other interests, and we dropped the "West" to become Zwald Transport, Inc. In 2001 we added a vac tanker to the fleet and started hauling sludge for NOSD and the City of Tillamook, we also purchased our Permaliner "No-Dig" sewer repair system for cleaning, inspecting, repairing and video inspecting sewer lines. In 2003 we became the contract hauler for the Port of Tillamook Bay Hooley Methane Digester. In 2006 we purchased Oceanside Sanitary Service from Delbert and Jan Duren, and became the "Garbage Man" for Oceanside, OR. In October of 2006 we became Operator of Record for Long Prairie Water and Pleasant Valley Water, then added Kilchis water in 2009. Also in 2009 we started hauling nursery stock for local growers Pat and Monica Zweifel to Southern California. In 2010 we moved the offices out of our home and into a building located at 9980 South Prairie Road. In 2011 we began hauling hay... seems like we've come full circle! Currently 3 of the 5 children work in this family business.
