Here's a link to and a screenshot of our limousine license which is super confusing to find online. Someday I'm going to make a video on how to verify someone's passenger-transportation-for-hire license by navigating the State of Michigan's website, but not today. Note: If someone's commercial insurance expires, the State is notified by the underwriter and the operator's license is suspended, usually within only a couple of days. Commercial insurance in the category of "passenger for hire transportation" is so much more expensive than getting a license, the only reason someone wouldn't get a license is if they weren't properly insured.

Most smaller airports, including TVC, have crews that perform multiple duties. Sometimes the counter people are off performing other job functions out of customer view. Sometimes, the line gets quite long before the ticket counter people get back there. Here is line today at the unattended Delta ticket counter at TVC.

The photo on the left is from a few days ago when the TSA checkpoint line was backed up to the main pedestrian entrance of the TVC terminal. The second photo is from today, the line for avis budget rentacar. Wow!!!

Turning into TVC from the East. I didn't expect a U-turner! I'm glad they saw me at the last moment, that I wasn't going any faster, and there was no one behind me. It takes my GPS a few seconds for the MPH to be right.

Here is a GREAT opportunity to grow a business that has been held back by my own unwillingness to return to my pre-COVID fleet size, office staff, and driver roster. It's time for me to retire.

To bolster business during the pandemic, I became an active courier which continues to be a significant part of my sales volume. The courier business is for sale also.

I have driven past Guntzviller's Spirit of the Woods Museum in Elk Rapids literally thousands of times in my life. Why I've never stopped there is beyond me. I went there yesterday for the first time. My mind is officially blown. If you've never been, you owe it to yourself. The cover charge is on the honor system. A true treasure for the area for young and old alike. If you have grandkids, this is an excellent focal point for an outing. Amazing.

Although I go to TVC a few hundred times per year, it still shocks me how much it has grown. Here are the outbound direct flights for tomorrow, July 6, 2024. 16 cities! And Allegiant doesn't even fly to FL tomorrow. Amazing!

Many of you know that I have filed ZERO insurance claims in my 15 years as a limousine company, and even though I sound like an underwriter's dream customer, I have spent 2+ years buying insurance out of the "high-risk pool," the MAIPF, because no insurer was willing to sell insurance to me on the competitive market. All the underwriters who had competed for my business previously had left the State of Michigan due to the legal climate here.

The passenger-for-hire companies in Michigan are advocating for legislative changes that will improve the insurance landscape for all passenger transportation services—impacting everything from shuttle operations to non-emergency transport. These changes aim to create a fairer environment and invite more competition, potentially lowering the costs you pay for transportation.

Please consider supporting us by contacting your local State Representative or Senator to express your support for House Bills 5307-5308 and Senate Bills 904-905. Your voice can make a real difference in shaping policies that benefit us all.

Second trip of the day. M37 going south between Lighthouse Rehabilitation and M113. It was so slippery I did NOT hit my brakes but instead used what little traction there was to turn out of his way. Apparently, he braked in response to the car in front of him but in doing so, lost control of his vehicle and came into my lane. I was able to dodge the head-on collision but unable to dodge him entirely. Weirdly enough, no sheet metal was dented. He broke off my running board at the hinges and his mirror left a line of white paint down the side of my SUV from the rear door to past the fuel door.

My gratitude that no ambulance was needed outweighed all the other feelings combined.
