Diesel Mechanic Job Description
We are looking for physically fit candidates with good attention to detail for the position of diesel mechanic. The primary duties of a diesel mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results, and identifying any other repairs that need to be done to the vehicles.
This is an exceptional position for someone with a positive attitude, excellent technical skills and the desire to succeed.
Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
· Perform routine maintenance on trucks & trailers performing all aspects of maintenance including but not limited to, electrical, lights, brakes, tires, suspensions, and changing oil to ensure the vehicles run properly and to avoid down time.
· Inspect all parts of trucks to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively.
· Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using devices such as motor analyzers, handheld computers and chassis charts to determine how to address problems.
• Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be.
• Replace parts, valves, bearings and gears as needed and repair vehicle cooling and heating systems.
• Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions.
• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.
• Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.
• Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop area and willingness to help with anything the management deems important.
Diesel Mechanic Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hours must be flexible.
• Valid CDL driver's license with manual transmission designation.
• Must be able to pass FHWA/USDOT drug test.
• Heavy equipment/forklift operation is an A+
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and controls A+
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
• Good IT and diagnostic skills.
• Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
• Attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
