COOL STUFF happening in northern Idaho:
Columbia Rail Group's new truck-to-rail transload at North Lapwai (about 12 miles east of Lewiston) just completed its second week of operation. Six carloads of canola from the Camas Prairie area have been shipped to Warden, with more shipments upcoming.

There are many areas of the Northwest U.S. where growers are hesitant to try canola simply due to long truck hauls to the nearest processor and/or storage facility when on-farm storage is not an option. Opportunities like what Columbia Rail is trying offer enormous time savings of loading three trucks into one rail car in less than one day!

Another project completed by Columbia Rail mechanical folks and will be heading to its new owner in Hastings Nebraska this week. Great job guys and gals! Keep an eye out for it and feel free to post pictures if you see in in transit.
