When courts start examining whether brokers ignored safety warning signs in the rush to cover a load, "we were moving fast" isn't going to be a compelling defense.

The brokers who survive the next decade will not be the ones who covered freight the fastest. They will be the ones who built the safest, cleanest, most defensible carrier networks.

That's not what some people want to hear. But it's where this industry is heading.

The freight market right now is all over the place.

One day, there are trucks everywhere, the next day, you’re fighting to cover loads, and rates are climbing by the hour. It changes fast, and you either adjust to it or you fall behind.

That’s why we encourage all of our agents to share ideas, stay connected, and use every tool available to keep freight moving. Nobody has this market figured out perfectly right now, but having the right people around you definitely helps.

Carrier vetting and documentation were always important, but ever since the Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II ruling, they feel like the difference between having a problem and having a disaster.

We recently started doing all-hands meetings with our Fenichey agents.

The goal isn’t to change how they run their business. We still believe agents should have the freedom to operate their way inside of Fenichey.

With how fast this industry is changing, we just wanted a chance to listen, catch up, answer questions, talk through challenges, and stay aligned as a team.

How are you spending your Memorial Day?

The answer should be, however you want to be spending it.

If our agents want to move freight today, go for it. If they want to shut the laptop, spend time with family, sit by the pool, or recharge for a day, that’s fine too.

Both can be great freight agents.

You shouldn’t have to want to wait around or explain the situation five different times to somebody who doesn’t understand the business. You should be able to reach someone who knows the business and can help.

That level of support is what every Fenichey freight agent can expect.

We don’t want our agents spending their whole day clicking buttons and chasing paperwork.

That’s why we’ve put so much focus into our tech stack at Fenichey. The goal is to get the repetitive stuff out of the way so our agents can spend more time talking to customers and solving problems.
