What this carbon bill looks like for rural Oregon. A full dollar raise on a gallon of Diesel. 25 to 40 cents per gallon of natural gas to heat your home. Goodbye firewood, as the cost will go up to cut it, haul it and deliver it. So heat your home with electricity. Anyone who does that knows the cost. Expensive.

Any diesel motor older then 2007 will be unregisterable, meaning outlawed. Goodbye old Farm Tractor. The old cat you fire up in the winter to keep the driveway open, gone. That old pickup you take in the woods to load up some dead, dying, downfall stick of wood....gone.

These older machines will flood the equipment markets in other states, making them worthless for their actual value. The cost to replace them with a 2007 or newer model......astronomical.
When you buy a new diesel pickup it may cost you 50 to 60 thousand. But, for a farmer or logger....that cost is in the 200 thousand dollar to 500 thousand range. And thats just for one piece of equipment. You think a 2x4 cost alot now or a loaf of bread. Wait til this passes.

Just an example. Little ol' Manley Brothers Logging. 2 employees and a log truck driver,with his own loader, would have to replace all 4 pieces of equipment. Truck Driver needs a newer truck, say a 2015 kenworth used, 125,000 dollars. Loader, used, another 125. There goes his profit for ten years. His diesel cost is higher, better make it 20 years.

Now for the logger. Skidder, used, 10 year old machine, 150 thousand. Used Cat, 200. Just in our three man operation. $600,000 dollars in newer equipment. We are one of the smallest logging operations in Northeast Oregon. What happens to a medium sized outfit. Million dollars. 2 million. Trucking businesses, 2 or 3 million to replace a fleet. The old family farm.....500 thousand to buy 2 tractors. All profit gone. Say goodbye to the farm....

Rural Oregon will be completly wiped out with this bill. Young Families wont be able to afford to live with the raised cost. They will move.... their Kids...gone. Schools.....empty. Coffee shops with Soccer moms stopping by.....closed. Parents swinging into the local grocery store. Thats over with.

I am not a political person. I don't often post things like this and really dislike using Facebook for political agendas. But this set of bills scare the crap out of me for what it means for Oregon. Let your voice be heard.
