Dear Parents, Learners, and Langa Scholar Transport Services Members
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved member, Siyabonga “Siya” Mkonza.
Siya was a valued member of our community whose presence, kindness, and spirit touched many lives. During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, classmates, and everyone affected by this painful loss.
We ask everyone to keep the Mkonza family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this heartbreaking moment.
May Siya’s soul rest in eternal peace.
We will forever remember Siya’s smile, his bold voice, his fighting spirit, and his hardworking nature. Siya always stood his ground and never backed down from what he believed was right. Even when he was wrong, he would always come back, acknowledge his mistakes, and apologise with a smile.
Early in the morning, he would be the first one to greet everyone and share traffic updates. We will forever hear his words:“Aniyichazi indlela kodwa ndiyanibona niyaphuma nani ngoku...”
Siya was a joker who brought life and laughter wherever he went. In meetings, he would sit right in the corner having his own little meeting with the troublemakers, his colleagues (Ta Mbudle, Ta Fish, Ta PAC and many more) making everyone laugh without even trying. You will hear him fight with troublemakers like him "athi ningomakazi, ningosisi nina.. Andithanga gqaaa yile group mna ndizophuma.. That is how he used to usisokolisa kula group. But he had a big heart uSiya ...
Today, we have lost an icon with a voice, a presence, and a heart that can never be replaced.
Siya was transporting learners from Observatory, Salt River, Woodstock, Cape Town, and Sea Point. To many of those learners, he was more than just a driver, he was a parent, a father figure, a brother, and a friend. We used to tease him and call him“uZwelonke.” because ebeqhuba almost everywhere.
He kept his learners happy and full of life. His transport was filled with laughter, good energy, and music because Siya was a true R&B lover. He played music that made his kids happy and comfortable every single day.
Those children will never forget you, Ta Msiyana. No one can ever fill Siya’s shoes in their lives.
Rest in peace, Siya “Gatyeni” 🤍🕊️You will forever remain in our hearts as Langa Scholar Transport Services silahlekelwe 😩😭😭😭💔🕊️ .
