A WINNING SEASON

It’s been an exceptional season of recognition for us at Groot Phesantekraal, led by a standout performance at the inaugural Cape Town Young W**e Show. We were delighted to be named the Hillebrand Gori Cape Town Young W**e Show Regional Champion, while also taking home regional trophies for Chenin Blanc, White Blend and Sweet W**e. Our Chenin Blanc then went on to claim champion status at the National Young W**e Show.

The celebrations continue, with our Syrah 2024 named among the Top 10 w**es in both the W**emag.co.za Prescient Shiraz Report 2026 and the Shiraz SA Challenge 2026.

Our Pinotage 2024 has also earned impressive recognition, winning the Pinotage Trophy at the SA Terroir W**e Awards 2026 and earning a place among the winning w**es in the 2026 ABSA Top 10 Pinotage competition.

And there’s more! Tim Atkin MW awarded impressive scores to four of our w**es in his 2026 South Africa Report, including 94 points for our Anna de Koning Chenin blanc.

Last Friday we also took home the Sauvignon blanc trophy on our Marizanne 2025 at the Michelangelo International W**e & Spirits awards.

It’s been an exciting awards season thus far for the team and a wonderful reflection of our vineyards, w**es and people.

Purchase our award-winning w**es, made by Richard Schroeder, online or in our tasting room. Link in our bio.

Some awards are displayed on shelves. Others belong to the people who made them possible.

Over the past year, Groot Phesantekraal has been humbled by some incredible recognition — including W**eMag Top 10 Shiraz, Top 12 at the Shiraz SA Challenge, SA Terroir W**e Awards for our Pinotage, ABSA Pinotage Top 20, Standard Bank Chenin Blanc Top 20, and making history at the Cape Town Young W**e Show and taking the trophy at National Young W**e Show for Chenin Blanc last Friday.

But behind every trophy is something far more important: our people.

Around 80 people contribute to the success of Groot Phesantekraal every day. From our vineyard and cellar teams to our offices, restaurant and tasting room, every person plays a role in bringing our farm to life.

These awards may have our name on them, but they belong to every person who puts in the hard work, passion and dedication behind the scenes.

Because this is more than w**e.

This is about our people. ❤️

Thank you to our incredible team. We are proud to share every achievement with you.

AN OPINION WORTH READING.

André Brink raises several thoughtful questions about the location and long-term impact of the Cape W**elands Airport. Whether you agree with him or not, his perspective adds meaningful value to an important debate about balancing development with the preservation of Durbanville's unique character.

The only pity is that many of these concerns may be arriving a little too late. With the project already approved and progressing, the focus may now need to shift from whether it should happen to ensuring that the promises made during the approval process are honoured.

It's an opinion well worth reading.
