Some awards are displayed on shelves. Others belong to the people who made them possible.

Over the past year, Groot Phesantekraal has been humbled by some incredible recognition — including WineMag Top 10 Shiraz, Top 12 at the Shiraz SA Challenge, SA Terroir Wine Awards for our Pinotage, ABSA Pinotage Top 20, Standard Bank Chenin Blanc Top 20, and making history at the Cape Town Young Wine Show and taking the trophy at National Young Wine Show for Chenin Blanc last Friday.

But behind every trophy is something far more important: our people.

Around 80 people contribute to the success of Groot Phesantekraal every day. From our vineyard and cellar teams to our offices, restaurant and tasting room, every person plays a role in bringing our farm to life.

These awards may have our name on them, but they belong to every person who puts in the hard work, passion and dedication behind the scenes.

Because this is more than wine.

This is about our people. ❤️

AN OPINION WORTH READING.

André Brink raises several thoughtful questions about the location and long-term impact of the Cape Winelands Airport. Whether you agree with him or not, his perspective adds meaningful value to an important debate about balancing development with the preservation of Durbanville's unique character.

The only pity is that many of these concerns may be arriving a little too late. With the project already approved and progressing, the focus may now need to shift from whether it should happen to ensuring that the promises made during the approval process are honoured.

It's an opinion well worth reading.
