🛣 Cango Caves Road Reopened Under Traffic Accommodation.

Another important milestone in our flood recovery efforts.

Following extensive rockfall clearing and safety assessments, the R328 Cango Caves Road has reopened under traffic accommodation from 11:45 today (10 July 2026).

Our dedicated teams have:
✅ Cleared more than 7,100 tonnes of rockfall and debris.
✅ Reopened the route following comprehensive testing.
✅ Continued work to stabilise the rock slope and complete permanent road repairs.

While the road is now open, motorists are urged to:
⚠️ Drive with caution.
⚠️ Obey all traffic accommodation measures. ⚠️ Be aware that there remains a risk of secondary rockfalls. Should conditions require it, the road may be closed again at short notice in the interest of public safety.

Big thanks to Camp Roadhouse for keeping our team fed out on site today – the meals were much appreciated!

News on the ground: we’ve now broken through the material blocking the road, and cleared through to the other side.

Please note: we’re only responsible for material removal on this stretch. The road will only open once the relevant authorities deem it safe to do so – we’re not involved in that decision, so please check with them directly for updates on the closure.
