New Lockdown Level 3 Regulations Summary:
1. Curfew imposed from 9pm till 6am except for essential services workers and travelling for security/medial emergencies. If you're caught breaching the curfew you may be imprisoned for upto 6 months and/or a fine.
2. Entertainment places incl. gyms to close at 8pm.
3. Nightclubs, Bars, Taverns, Pubs, Shebeens totally shutdown.
4. Funerals only 50 people, max 2hrs, no night vigils & no after-funeral lunches.
5. Beaches, Public Swimming Pools, Public Parks & Playgrounds, Rivers, Dams etc totally shutdown in identified hotspot areas (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Garden Route, etc.)
6. Game parks, botanical gardens, aquariums and zoos that are have access control will be open to the public from 9am to 6pm.
7. Venues cannot exceed 50% of their capacity and a max of 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. This applies to restaurants, movie houses, libraries, museums, casinos, sports grounds, auctions, etc.
8. Hotels, B'n'B's, lodges can operate at 100% capacity.
9. Not wearing a mask is now a crime punishable by imprisonment of upto 6 months and/or a fine.
10. Transport providers can carry full capacity of passengers except for long distance operators who are limited to 70% capacity.
11. Inter-provincial travel is allowed.
12. Alcohol sales are banned totally whether onsite/offsite.
13. Wine tasting is banned.
14. Transportation of alcohol is prohibited whether for private/commercial purposes.
15. Landlords should not impose penalties to tenants for late payment of rentals if the delay is as a result of the lockdown.
16. Working from home is still recommended but where employers require staff to report for duty then social distancing has to be observed based on the size of the employer's premises.
17. Retail stores and pharmacies will determine how many customers and employees can be inside their premises at any given time based on their floor area.
18. Evictions are prohibited.
19. South African borders are still open.
20. International travel to or from South Africa is allowed subject to negative COVID test results.
21. Social gatherings incl. churches are totally prohibited.
22. Social distancing of at least 1.5m is a must in every public space.
23. Cruise boats are totally banned but commercial cargo ships may operate without limitation.
24. South Africans are being urged to stay at home and only go out temporarily when its really essential.
25. These regulations will be reviewed again on 15 January 2021.
