Yazi I have realised something when it comes to business and us Black people neh, we were told and taught how business work and I have realised that that is not the actual way it does. See we are taught to service debt and not have ownership and that is 1 on the main reasons why black business don't thrive.
Typical example we think the Taxi industry is Black owned right? But what do we own exactly except for debt and those who manage it well are trapped into doing it until they die. Let me break it down further. You buy let's say 5 Taxis and put them in business and then you are regarded as a taxi owner in business right? ... How when you have to pay Toyota installments even when your taxi becomes a wreck due to working everyday and changing reckless drivers.
You still have to pay Insurance for your taxi another debt, you also have to pour petrol everyday another debt, you also have to pay the association many amounts another debt, you must also pay your driver another debt and if you check who owns all the company that makes money off your taxi you find that they are owned by the system. They make more money than you and it's you who has to service those debts. Now if you are a good businessman and also have other innovative ways to generate income you manage the debt well and the banks give you more credit 🤯 to keep you in the trap while you enjoy your small change by being able to get more credit that will trap you even more.
The same goes with owning a business where you are supposed to pay Lease Agreements, Stock accounts, Insurance, monthly premiums, Loadshedding only for you to have more credit that will make you look like you have money when all you have is credit translating to debt. You will only get to reap the small rewards if you manage your debts well meaning being trapped in the system by making those monthly payments to live a life of good credit.
What they don't tell us is that some companies like for instance Blue Ribbon they are not making most of their money by selling bread but by farming of crops and transporting of the bread across South Africa. That is where the money is at that is why we can never ever have a black owned company that will compete with them because you want to compete with selling bread while they are making most of their money from other business that they owned in lines of Manufacturing and Distribution.
In closing for us to compete economically we need to establish a chain from the ground meaning from manufacturing of raw material to Processing of raw material, Storage Facilities, Transportation to production and distribution. Now that real business ownership. Typically MacDonald make their own Buns, Lettuce, Tomato, Sauces, process their own meat, make their own packaging and handle their own Logistics through intermediary companies that they have shares on. With this said kukude phambili for thina and 1 of our biggest flaws is that we hold their false education they taught us to the highest regard and end up doing what they taught us ukuthi it is right and as a result we can never ever stand together, build together or plan together. We always see each other as competition. There is a saying that goes "Together we stand, divided we fall" hope this saying has more meaning to you now and I hope we will change the way we think, recondition our minds and start rebuilding with an open renewed mindset.
