The primary role of the Logistics/Pricing Coordinator is to use market and carrier knowledge and tools available in the industry to source, analyze and execute pricing strategies to support new, existing, and potential business opportunities.
This role performs detailed pricing analysis of carrier dry, re**er, and specialized equipment rates obtained from existing and new carriers. The incumbent ensures capacity commitments and provides competitive pricing to support RFPs and other pricing requirements to secure transportation solutions for both internal and external customers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Source competitive rates based on equipment specifications, customer needs, and service expectations using existing and new carriers
- Provide competitive spot rates and/or provide alternate solutions if needed
- Receive, review and analyze all incoming rate requests and RFP requests for prompt and on-time submission
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers to secure competitive pricing
- Negotiate and develop rates with carriers
- Other duties and assignments as required
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Knowledge of the transportation brokerage industry required
- Operations/ rates/ experience in the transportation/ logistics industry with exposure to a broad cross-section of rates, carriers
- Knowledge of fuel programs (i.e., FCA, DOT, etc.) and exposure to all-in pricing to obtain base rates plus fuel is an asset
Experience negotiating with carriers in the industry including cross border and domestic LTL/TL (all modes)
- Experience with RFP and RFQ submission & terms/conditions an asset
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Detail-oriented, and highly accurate
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and function under pressure and meet time constraints
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Dedicated commitment to providing superior, timely service to both external customers and carriers while meeting the needs of the internal division
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal form
- Highly motivated and results-oriented
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong computer skills required in Excel (i.e. filter, sort, formulas)
- Working knowledge of transportation management software.
- Working knowledge of load boards (LoadLink, Truck Stop).
