Long awaited Mt Atkinson bus starts Sunday June 28 as Route 140a from Rockbank to Mt Atkinson. Services will run 6am-10pm 7 days, every 20 min weekdays, 40 min weekends. Weird footnotes on timetable. Link to timetable in comments. Mt Atkinson Advocacy Forum

NEWS: The Victorian Auditor General has released a report on the state government's performance with regards to bus service improvement and the Bus Plan.

The generally critical report found that performance measures could be improved, said the Department was unlikely to achieve Bus Plan objectives and was not transparent in its reporting of Bus Plan progress. DTP has only partly accepted the recommendations.

9️⃣0️⃣3️⃣❤️ On this day: the Warrigal Road Smartbus in Melbourne's east was launched 14th June 2006. Route 903 was extended through to Altona in 2009. Higher frequency and longer operating hours resulted in a 37% patronage jump in the first year.👍
More buses more often = more passengers on board.🚌

Announcement on the 5 July 2026 start of the new 886 bus from Mornington to Hastings. This will avoid the backtrack into Frankston. The new route includes some new funding. Possibly partly offset by ceasing the very quiet Route 786 between Rye and St Andrews Beach.
