One of the best parts of this job is meeting people who are visiting our area for the first time.

Earlier this week I picked up a gentleman from Darlington Station and took him up to Reeth to start his Coast to Coast walk. The following day I was back at the station collecting his wife and taking her to The Buck Inn so they could meet up and continue the adventure together.

It always amazes me how many people travel from all over the country to visit places like Reeth and the Yorkshire Dales. Living locally, we sometimes forget how lucky we are to have these places right on our doorstep.

Bank holiday Monday was meant to be a quiet one for us until a late night pickup at Forcett Hall just after midnight.

While collecting our original booking, we were approached by a family whose taxi had unfortunately let them down late at night, including a young baby with them.

After making sure our original customer got home safely, we returned to collect the stranded passengers and make sure everyone got home safely too — finally finishing around 2am.

Sometimes this job is about more than just getting from A to B 🚖
