🚆Exciting news for traveling Pennsylvanians!

Governor Josh Shapiro's office has announced that Amtrak will introduce a second daily passenger train between Pittsburgh and New York, with stops in Harrisburg and Philadelphia, beginning mid-November. This expanded service promises to enhance access to modern, safe, and reliable passenger rail options, while also fostering community connections, job creation, and boosting economic development and infrastructure investment across Pennsylvania.

Amtrak anticipates beginning ticket sales for the second Pittsburgh to New York passenger train in October, the administration said.

50 highway, bridge, aviation, port, bike, and pedestrian projects in 27 counties across Pennsylvania have been selected for $54 million in funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, including Allegheny County. The City of Pittsburgh will receive over $3.7 million to renovate the Boulevard of the Allies in the Central Business District and upgrade and expand the overhead lane use control system on the North Shore, and Versailles Borough will receive $231,077 to replace 25 streetlights on Walnut Street.
