The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) offers over 70 local, express and regional bus routes, a light rail line, services for the disabled and vanpools. CATS seeks to improve the quality of life for everyone in the greater Charlotte region by providing outstanding community-wide public transportation services. 🚍 What does the FY 2027 CATS Budget mean for you?

The newly approved budget focuses on the things riders care about most:

💵 No fare increases or new fees
🚌 More bus service, including 30,500 additional service hours
⏱️ More frequent service on Routes 5, 7, 16 and 21
🚐 Expanded Microtransit service areas and hours
🛡️ Continued investment in safety and security across the system
♿ More resources for Special Transportation Service (STS)
🚏 Improvements to approximately 100 bus stops
🚆 Continued maintenance and upgrades to buses, trains and facilities to keep service reliable

These investments help us deliver safer, more reliable and more convenient transit while preparing for the future of mobility in the Charlotte region.
