🦌 Heads up, tri-state drivers: it's deer season.

October through December is peak time for deer-vehicle collisions across the Midwest, and Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois roads are right in the middle of it. Our drivers cover a lot of these roads every day, so here's what professional drivers keep in mind this time of year:

🌅 Dusk and dawn are prime time. That's when deer move most, and it's also when visibility is worst.
👀 Where there's one, there's more. If a deer crosses, slow down and expect a second or third to follow.
💡 Use your high beams on rural roads when there's no oncoming traffic. Eye-shine gives you an early warning.
🛑 Brake firmly and don't swerve. Swerving into oncoming traffic or a ditch is often more dangerous than the deer itself.
🌲 Watch wooded edges and creek crossings. Deer-crossing signs are there for a reason.
