Teamwork makes the dream work! During the nine-day "Pause for Progress" outage, VPRA negotiated closely with Amtrak to maintain essential travel connections across the network. Thank you to the crews whose hard work and dedication made these critical improvements possible. Working efficiently and staying on schedule, they completed essential upgrades within the First Street Tunnel, including replacing switches and crossovers, rehabilitating the tunnel track base, and installing modern electric switch systems.

Thanks also go out to our dedicated bus contractors and all the drivers operating supplemental routes helping to connect passengers from Alexandria to Washington Union Station, as well as from Roanoke, Charlottesville, and Hampton Roads! All the hard work, effort and extra support ensured passengers reached their destinations safely and seamlessly through these vital infrastructure improvements. Thank you for keeping Virginia moving!
