Operational excellence is built by people who consistently go above and beyond. This month, we recognise Helena van Wyk.

Helena joined Pindulo VDM in December 2018 as a Weighbridge Coordinator at our Saldanha depot. Over the years, she has become a key part of the operation, not only managing weighbridge activities but playing an active role in training and appointing new weighbridge operators.

Together with her team, Helena oversees three road weighbridges and two container weighbridges at Saldanha on a 24/7 basis. On busy operational days, up to 250 vehicles and 25 packed containers move through these weighbridges, with every transaction and supporting document requiring precision, accountability, and accuracy.

Her leadership ensures that processes run without delay, even during peak operational periods. Her willingness to show up at all hours, including after hours, weekends, and public holidays, reflects the kind of commitment that keeps operations moving when it matters most.

Known for her positive attitude, reliability, and the way she supports her team, Helena continues to make her mark at Pindulo VDM.

Pindulo VDM is seeking a highly organised, professional, and proactive Office Coordinator to join our team in Saldanha.

This position is ideal for an individual who enjoys working in a structured and dynamic environment, thrives on keeping things organised, and takes pride in providing exceptional administrative support while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the office. The successful candidate will serve as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, while coordinating a wide range of administrative and office support functions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Be the first point of contact by managing the central switchboard and directing calls.
• Frontline person for all enquiries and queries at reception.
• Professional attitude and appearance, ensure reception area is tidy and presentable.
• Order, management and issue of stationery supplies.
• Coordinate, receive, send, and collect correspondence (Post, Clients, Courier).
• Organise general meetings with external clients i.e. reminders and confirmations of meetings if required.
• Arrange/Coordinate parking for visitors.
• Co-coordinate the reservations of the boardrooms as requested.
• Assist in setting up of presentations, teleconferences and video conferences.
• Arrange catering for meetings when necessary.
• Provide general administrative support as directed by Senior Management, i.e. printing packs for Exco meetings, distributing reports etc.
• Oversee and coordinate the office cleaning staff.
• Oversee and coordinate office hygiene requirements.
• Ensure office maintenance issues and general upkeep is adhered to.
• Assist Senior Management with travel arrangements (flights, accommodation, vehicle hire).
• Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing and billing etc.

What We're Looking For:
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (preferred).
• A certificate or diploma in administration would be beneficial.
• Previous experience in a similar role will be advantageous.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• A customer-focused mindset and a passion for supporting the team.

Pindulo VDM is now NNR-registered for NORM logistics at Atlantic Hills and Saldanha.

Our Certificate of Registration from the National Nuclear Regulator confirms that both depots are registered for the handling, storage, packaging and transportation of heavy mineral materials classified as Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material.

This is not a checkbox. It is the result of disciplined preparation, a thorough regulatory process, and the focused work of our Radiation Protection Officer and teams across both sites.

Job Description: The successful applicant will:
· Coordinate daily transport schedules by allocating vehicles, drivers and loads according to operational requirements and delivery deadlines
· Monitor vehicle movements through tracking systems and report delays, breakdowns, route deviations and driver behaviour proactively
· Maintain accurate records on transport management systems, including load status, driver information, customer details and fleet data
· Handle customer and driver queries professionally and escalate operational issues when required
· Compile and submit daily and weekly operational reports on deliveries, vehicle utilisation, transport performance and outstanding documentation
· Assist with fleet and driver administration on customer portals and coordinate driver inductions for site access

Minimum Requirements:
· Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
· Diploma or certificate in Logistics, Transport Management or Administration (advantageous)

• Ensure timeous and correct invoicing processing
